The regime’s forces have been terrorizing the Oromo public in all corners of Oromia. The youth, old men, women, and children have been killed; houses are burned with all contents. The youth are forcibly being recruited into the army just to be used as cannon fodders in the multi civil wars in the country.
Accordingly, on May 7, 2024, the soldiers of the Ethiopian Defense Forces left the Goro Sole camp with a pretext of searching for armed combatants. When they failed to identify any armed combatant, they attacked the homes of Oromo farmers in the area around 5:00 AM local time and killed a civilian named Galo Kumasa. Galo Kumasa was assassinated in front of his family in Tokke Arfinjo, farming village of Tokke Kuttaaye district of West Shaggar zone of Oromia.
The regime’s armed forces also abducted Galo Kumasa’s brother, Warku Kumasa, whose whereabouts remain unknown. Grief-stricken residents collected the body of the deceased after the regime’s army left the locality and buried it at night, for fear of retaliation.
