Oromo Civilians Face Brutal Killings and Displacement in Wallagga by Ethiopian regime forces

The ongoing violence against Oromo civilians in Begi district, West Wallagga, and Kiramu district, East Wallagga, paints a grim picture of escalating brutality under Abiy Ahmed’s Prosperity Party (PP) regime. Reports from the Oromia National Media (ONM-ABO) highlight systematic killings, torture, and looting, demonstrating a blatant disregard for human rights and international law.

In Begi district, West Wallagga, the PP army’s execution of Habtamu Mitiku, despite his family’s ransom payment, is a gruesome testament to the regime’s impunity. Similarly, the targeted killing of Jimalo Liddi, based solely on his son’s alleged Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) membership, further exposes the use of extrajudicial executions as a tool of terror.

Meanwhile, Amhara militias (“Fano”) in Kiramu district, East Wallagga, continue their campaign of terror against Oromo civilians. On March 8, 2025, the brutal murder of Garramu Lama and Fiqadu Xiyaar highlights the ongoing ethnic violence, where Oromo civilians face relentless attacks with no protection from the government. Instead, government forces exploit the Fano insurgency as a pretext to suppress the OLA, intensifying the crisis.

With the Ethiopian government showing no intention to curb these atrocities, the Oromo people remain vulnerable to continued massacres, persecution, and displacement. The escalating violence calls for urgent international intervention to hold the regime accountable and prevent further bloodshed.
