ONM-ABO – March 13, 2025
The brutal attacks on Oromo civilians by Amhara rebel forces (“Fano”) continue to escalate, with the latest atrocity claiming the life of 15-year-old Fooziyaa Aammii in Caffee Biluu, Harxummaa Fursee district. Fooziyaa, a resident of Coqorsoo Funyaan Sullee village, was killed on March 8, 2025, when Amhara militants launched heavy weapons from a distance, firing deadly projectiles that instantly ended her life.
After Fooziyaa’s killing, the militants continued their assault, repeatedly launching heavy rounds at the site of her death to prevent her family and community members from retrieving her body. This inhumane act added further pain to an already grieving community.
In addition to the tragic loss of Fooziyaa, the attack also resulted in the killing and injury of several cattle owners from Coqorsoo village, including:
- Hussein Ali,
- Adam Sheikh,
- Abdu Hussein
Reports further indicate that on March 3, 2025, the Fano militants kidnapped a mentally ill Oromo man from a nearby town, targeting him solely for his Oromo identity. His whereabouts remain unknown, heightening fears of further human rights abuses.
This continued wave of ethnic-based violence against Oromos underscores the urgent need for international intervention. The Ethiopian government’s silence and inaction have only emboldened these terrorist insurgents, leaving Oromo civilians vulnerable to mass killings, displacement, and destruction.
