ONM-ABO April 29, 2024

In the past 10 days, the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has been actively engaged in combat with forces loyal to the Abiy regime in the Central Zone.

The OLA central command initiated operations against the regime’s army across several districts, including Jalduu, Metta, Cobii, Ambo, Midaa Qanyii, Ammayya, and Ilfata. These operations resulted in the deaths and injuries of over 100 regime fighters and officers, with dozens more captured. Additionally, OLA forces seized 1 Dshqa, 1 PKM, 30 AKMs, and various other weapons during these encounters. Notably, one of the regime’s military camps was also destroyed in the process.

On April 14th, OLA achieved victory in the battles of Jalduu and Metta districts. Simultaneously, the Aduu Saafa Brigade successfully engaged regime military units in the villages of Diggoo and Bakkee Hoofuu within the Cobii community.

Continuing their operations on April 19th and 20th, the Obomboletti Brigade clashed with regime forces in West Shagar, Ammayyaa community, securing both human and material resources after successful engagements in Qote and Gombore villages.

On April 21st, OLA forces intercepted an enemy patrol moving from Golfofaa village to Ambo town, disrupting the movement of both regime officials and their army.

The following day, on April 22nd, OLA intercepted regime forces conducting night patrols in the Ilfata community from the village of Shangannee to Diki village at 4:00 AM Ethiopian time, engaging in a four-hour battle resulting in heavy damage.

Additionally, on the same day, OLA fought regime forces in Mida Qanyi community, Wahilo, Boqu Niso community, and Gobe Kurat. Regime vehicles were observed transporting wounded and deceased forces from the area.

The recent successes of OLA demonstrate a significant challenge to the Ethiopian regime’s authority in the region, signaling a resilient opposition force in the ongoing conflict.
