West Wallagga, Oromia – The Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has achieved significant military success in the ongoing conflict in the West Wallagga Zone. On May 1, 2024, the OLA conducted a major offensive against the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) in the districts of Ganjii and Yuubdoo, claiming a decisive victory.
The operation targeted the towns of Dibbee and Ciisaa Birrii in the Yuubdoo district, where the OLA’s Afaan Qawee, Faana Kaayyoo, Barbadaa, and Hidhannoo Haqaa battalion infantry divisions of the formidable Odaa Kaarraa Brigade, executed a coordinated attack. The result was a landslide triumph for the OLA.
In the confrontation, the OLA killed twenty-five ENDF troops and injured thirty-three. Additionally, OLA captured two ENDF soldiers. The OLA also seized a significant cache of military equipment, including 20 AKMs and a Bren Calibre with ammunition, which is expected to significantly enhance their combat capabilities.
The OLA has expressed that this victory marks a pivotal moment in their struggle, symbolizing the strength and determination of the Oromo people.
