Today marks one year since the cold-blooded assassination of Jaal Battee Urgessaa by the security forces of Abiy Ahmed. Battee embodied defiance in the face of injustice—a champion of Oromo liberation, whose courage and devotion to his people knew no limits. He stood resolute against oppression, waging an tireless struggle against the chains of tyranny, daring to envision a future where every voice could rise and every life could thrive.
His life was a testament to the pursuit of justice and equity, a cause for which he sacrificed everything. Yet like countless other innocent lives stolen too soon, Battee has been denied justice.
The fight endures. We will not rest until justice prevails.
