This morning, the Abiy regime launched drone strikes on civilian areas in the Hidhabuu Abootee and Kuyyuu districts of North Shewa zone, continuing its disregard for human life and international humanitarian norms. The Kuyyuu attack targeted a school, violating every tenet of International Humanitarian Law and endangering the lives of innocent children. In Hidhabuu Abootee, the strikes targeted shepherds tending to their family livestock, aiming to disrupt not only lives but also the livelihoods of rural communities.
It is essential that human rights organizations amplify the voices of these communities—speaking out for those who are left unheard. Only by shedding light on these violations can we hope to bring accountability and justice to those who suffer in silence.
