In what locals are calling a targeted massacre, government-affiliated militias executed seven Oromo youths in Sadeen Sooddoo district of South-West Shaggar Zone on March 28, 2025.
According to ONM-ABO sources, the victims were abducted while traveling to a local market from Uraagoo Kalchaa and Somboo Walagoo villages. They were then taken to Harbuu Culullee town, where they were executed near the Aabboo religious site.
The mass killing, which violates Ethiopia’s constitutional and international human rights laws, has drawn widespread condemnation. Families of the victims were reportedly barred from retrieving the bodies for burial, a tactic reminiscent of other state-backed crackdowns across the region.
“The government claims to uphold peace, but in reality, it is waging a war against Oromo civilians,” a local resident said.
