A brutal counter-insurgency operation conducted by PP forces in Jaawwii Koboshee kebele, Yubdoo district, West Wollega, has resulted in the tragic death of an innocent Oromo youth and left an elderly woman critically injured. Regime forces raided the village and opened fire on a young civilian named Eliyaas, who possessed no political involvement. Eliyaas was shot multiple times and his body was left abandoned in an open field. During the same raid, an elderly mother, Qulluccee Tarrafaa, was shot and severely wounded by the soldiers under the blanket accusation of harboring ties with the OLA. She was rushed to the Aayiraa Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Activists note that the targeting of rural communities has spiked significantly as the regime seeks to punish agrarian populations suspected of supporting the Oromo national movement.
An unprovoked military assault in Saraansar kebele, Gooroo Doolaa district, East Gujii, has left local residents in mourning following the execution of another Oromo youth by federal forces. Government troops targeted Roobaa Bantoolaa Gaararroo, shooting him at close range without any legal pretext. Local elders have expressed profound anger over the killing, stating that the regime’s campaign of terror has crossed all acceptable humanitarian boundaries, making collective civil resistance an absolute necessity for survival.
Concurrently, a devastating campaign of state-sponsored arson has been executed against residents in Anda Woyizaroo kebele, within the Sulultaa municipal area of Shagger City. Regime loyalists intentionally set fire to multiple civilian homes, reducing them to ashes along with all internal property. Among those whose homes were entirely destroyed are Ms Ayyaanee Midhaksaa, Ms Caaltuu Gadaa, and Ms Darartuu Mokonnon. When confronted by distraught neighbors, the soldiers justified the destruction by claiming that the husbands of the victims were active fighters within the OLA, a claim flatly denied by the local community.
Following highly successful tactical operations executed by the OLA against regime installations last week, occupational authorities in Gadab Hasaasaa district, West Arsi, have launched massive retaliatory crackdowns against the civilian population. Unable to confront the liberation forces on the battlefield, local PP cadres have directed their frustration toward agrarian elders, arresting dozens and detaining them at the central district police station. The detainees face continuous interrogation and psychological abuse under the false allegation that their children are active members of the liberation army. Reliable field sources have successfully verified the identities of several elderly farmers currently suffering inside the district’s cells: Fayyisoo Aagoo, Idiriis Hasoo, Gulilaat Girmaa, Muliyyee Fiqaaduu, Mogos Abdoo, Dabalaa Waaqoo, Darajjee, Shufeerii Daddafoo, Abdannee Eda’oo, Amaan, Fayyisoo Woliyyii, and Abaadir Eda’oo Gammadaa. In addition to these arbitrary detentions, the district administration has unleashed financial warfare on the remaining population, forcing smallholders to pay illegal levies without providing official receipts.
Amidst this campaign of violence against civilians, deep structural crises and intense greed within the regime’s security architecture have culminated in deadly infighting among government-aligned armed ranks in North Shewa and Buunnoo Beddellee. In Ejeree town, Hidhabuu Abootee district, an escalating argument over the distribution of illicit operational benefits led to a violent shootout. Hand grenades were weaponized during the internal clash, resulting in the immediate death of one militia member and leaving six others seriously wounded. A similar internal crisis has paralyzed the administrative cadres in Makkoo district, Buunnoo Beddellee Zone. For over a month, local PP officials have been embroiled in bitter disputes after collectively orchestrating the illegal seizure and sale of public land for personal enrichment. Failing to reach an agreement on the division of the stolen funds, the corrupt cadres began arbitrarily imprisoning one another, utilizing the local police apparatus to settle internal scores. Furthermore, several civilian buyers who had purchased town plots are now being detained, with the regime branding their legal acquisitions as state property while dragging them through complicit local courts.
