Re: The OLA Welcomes the ONLF the Shared Struggle for Our Peoples (OLF-OLA Press Release)

Mar 31, 2025

The Somali and Oromo people share a bond deeper than alliance—a brotherhood tempered through shared struggle and common aspirations. Our people are bound by camaraderie, and the political movements born from our collective struggles have always been—and will remain—allies in the fight against all forms  of oppression. Together, we strive for the liberation and democratic future  our people so richly deserve.

While we extend our hand in revolutionary solidarity to the ONLF and warmly welcome the Somali movement to a united struggle against the current regime, we must, with equal urgency, address a grave inaccuracy in the ONLF’s statement of March 30, 2025. To equate the Oromo with the regime not only betrays a universal principle of separating an unelected elite from the people they exploit, but it`s also a profound distortion of reality in Oromia. The regime’s first act of war was directed against the Oromo people in January 2019, and this war against our people has raged without respite ever since. Such narratives also serve only the interests of the regime and its apologists, who seek to sow division among our people to weaken our collective resolve to mount a united resistance.

Having rectified this critical misrepresentation, let it be known: in us, you have found unwavering comrades in arms. We stand shoulder to shoulder against the OPDO-led regime that exploits our people—a regime that was never born of the struggle for our people but of their oppression.

Together, in solidarity, we will prevail, and very soon!
