Residents of Lataa Sibuu district in West Wallagga region report escalating military violence against civilians, with at least 21 individuals allegedly detained and tortured by government forces since April 9, 2025.

**Military Developments:**
In a separate incident on April 9, two anti-riot police officers defected to the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in Qilxuu Kaarraa district, bringing:
- 2 AKM rifles
- 6 magazines
- 174 rounds of ammunition
- 2 ballistic vests
The defectors reportedly stated: “We chose to stand with our people rather than serve a regime that oppresses them.”
Local sources allege:
- Detainees are held at Lataa Sibuu district jail
- Arrests conducted under pretext of targeting OLA supporters
- Systematic torture methods employed against civilians
Humanitarian organizations report growing concerns about treatment of detainees in Western Oromia.
