September 21, 2025 — Oromia National Media (ONM-ABO)

Over the past two weeks, Oromia has witnessed a surge in violent attacks and abuses by Prosperity Party (PP) forces and allied Amhara Fano militia. Reports from multiple districts indicate widespread destruction, arbitrary detentions, looting, and killings targeting Oromo civilians, often under the pretext of suppressing support for the Oromo Liberation Army (WBO).

On September 9, PP forces burned down the home of Obbo Nuuraa Badhaasoo, a respected farmer in Haroorsa-Qalbootii village. Residents say he had no criminal record and was falsely accused of WBO ties. The destruction left his family destitute. ONM-ABO condemned the act as a grave violation of property rights under international law.

South West Shaggar: Families of Resistance Fighters Targeted

In Tolee and Bachoo districts, PP forces torched homes belonging to families of Oromo resistance fighters, leaving children exposed to harsh weather. Witnesses reported that PP-led trainings promoted brutal tactics such as burning homes, dismembering bodies, and intimidation to force allegiance. ONM-ABO denounced the campaign as a deliberate effort to fracture Oromo unity.

Iluu Abbaa Booraa: Looting and Sexual Violence in Daarimuu

In villages including Chaltee, Jarsoo, Tuulamaa, and Kusaayee, PP operatives raided homes at night, looting money and livestock, while committing sexual assaults against civilians. Survivors said they were silenced under death threats. ONM-ABO highlighted the trauma and division caused by these systematic abuses.

East Arsii: Mass Detentions in Martii

On September 13, PP forces raided Warshaa Qonnaa village, detaining farmers under false pretenses of a community meeting. Victims included Useen Waadoo, Umar Useen, Umar Faqoo, and Baamudii Faqoo. They were accused of WBO ties and tortured in custody. ONM-ABO condemned the detentions as violations of ICCPR Article 9.

East Harargee: 100 Farmers Detained in Baddannoo

On September 14, more than 100 farmers in Gooroo Wadoo village were arrested under accusations of unpaid taxes. Among them were Obbo Abdii Kaliif, Obbo Adam Jibiril, Obbo Yuusuf Ahimad, Obbo Mahaammad Umar, and Obbo Abdurahmaan Jamaalii. Another farmer, Obbo Aanaa Muktaar, was brutally beaten and remains critically injured. ONM-ABO described these actions as extortion through arbitrary detention and torture.

East Wallagga: Child Killed by Fano Militia in Luugoo

On September 19, armed Amhara Fano militia stormed a home in Luugoo town, killing 5-year-old Miikii Habtaamuu Sambatoo and severely injuring town officials Girmaa and Taarraqeny Fayisaa. ONM-ABO linked this attack to ongoing Fano-led massacres in Oromia, calling it a blatant violation of the right to life.

East Wallagga: Looting in Saasiggaa

On September 15, in Shonkoora Guddisaa village, PP forces looted cattle from three brothers: Masfinee, Faqqadee, and Siyyum Geetaahuun. Residents said the men were falsely accused of WBO ties to justify theft. ONM-ABO condemned the looting as part of a broader campaign of extortion amid the empire’s economic collapse.
