ONM-ABO – April 20, 2025 | Central Oromia
In a major embarrassment for Abiy Ahmed’s embattled regime, 18 armed members of the Imperial Defense Forces have defected and joined the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in Central Oromia within just one week—many bringing their military gear and weapons in a stunning display of rejection against Prosperity Party tyranny.
Sources inside OLA report that the defectors—most of whom are of Oromo descent, with a few from other nations and nationalities—voluntarily surrendered after recognizing the lies, brutality, and betrayal behind the regime’s propaganda. “We saw with our own eyes the contrast between the OLA’s commitment to justice and the regime’s daily lies,” said one former soldier who defected with his unit.
These former regime fighters didn’t come empty-handed. Among the confiscated gear: 1 sniper rifle, 17 AKM rifles, grenades, and boxes of ammunition—now in the hands of freedom fighters pushing back against occupation and oppression.
“They told us the OLA was a terrorist group,” said another defector. “But the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like brothers. The lies of the Prosperity Party are no match for the truth we’ve seen.”
The former soldiers also blasted the Prosperity Party for forcing young Oromo men to fight their own people in the name of national unity, while secretly orchestrating a brutal war against them. “This isn’t defense—it’s genocide wrapped in a flag,” one defector added. “We call on all our brothers still trapped inside this corrupt empire’s army to follow us and fight for real freedom with the OLA.”
PP-Appointed Mayor Rapes a mother in Qellem Wallagga
In another disturbing sign of moral collapse inside the Prosperity Party’s corrupt apparatus, residents of Qaaqee town in Daallee Waabaraa district, Qellem Wallagga have accused the town’s mayor, Qajeelaa Gammachuu, of raping a mother on April 16, 2025.
Locals say the mayor, a known PP loyalist, has abused his authority repeatedly, committing shameful acts that deeply violate the cultural and moral values of the Oromo people. Hospital and court sources have confirmed that the incident has been reported, further exposing the lawlessness fostered by the ruling regime’s unchecked power.
This case is not isolated. Reliable sources confirm a wave of rapes, murders, and abuses committed by regime cadres across Oromia—including attacks on children under the age of 10, young girls, and even elderly women.
The pattern is clear: while the Prosperity Party parades itself as a government, it acts like a criminal cartel, wielding rape and violence as weapons to subdue a rising population demanding justice and freedom.
ONM will continue to expose these crimes and amplify the voices of the Oromo people and all oppressed nationalities who are standing up to tyranny. Stay tuned for updates from the ground.
