Genocidal Onslaught Against Oromos Intensifies in Horroo Guduruu Wallagga

Mar 18, 2025

ONM-ABO – March 17, 2025

The Ethiopian regime and its allied Amhara militants have escalated their war against Oromo civilians in Horroo Guduruu Wallagga, unleashing unprecedented brutality, mass displacement, and targeted executions. Reports from the Oromia National Media–Arrata Biyyoolessaa Oromiyaa (ONM-ABO) detail multiple atrocities carried out between March 11 and March 15, 2025, in Abee Dongoroo and Horroo districts.

Amhara Militants, Backed by PP, Commit Mass Killings and Arson in Abee Dongoroo

On March 12, 2025, in Goortee village, Waamaa area, Obbo Masgabuu Dachaasaa was gunned down in cold blood by Amhara insurgents as he traveled from Gaararoo to Tulluu Waayyuu market. This execution, in clear violation of Ethiopia’s Constitution (Article 15) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) (Article 6), exposes the lawlessness governing the region.

Just a day earlier, on March 11, 2025, in Hoomaa Gaalessaa village, these PP-backed militants torched over 200 homes, looted properties, and displaced hundreds of Oromo families. Survivors fleeing from Loomicaa, Gaararoo, and Caruu villages described the destruction as a deliberate act of ethnic cleansing, violating the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) (Article 14) and Ethiopia’s own Criminal Code (Article 487), which prohibits arson.

Locals say these attacks are not random acts of violence but part of an orchestrated campaign to uproot Oromos from their land—a genocidal purge enabled by the Prosperity Party (PP) regime.

Prosperity Party Militias Execute Oromo Youth in Horroo District

Meanwhile, in Burqituu Oborraa village, Horroo district, 17-year-old Guddataa Toluu Gaddafaa, a grade 11 student, was abducted at 4:00 AM on March 15, 2025, and brutally murdered by PP forces. Guddataa, who had no political affiliation, was falsely accused of supporting the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) and executed without trial, violating Ethiopia’s Constitution (Article 15) and the ICCPR (Article 6), which prohibit arbitrary killings.

His murder underscores the PP regime’s war against Oromo youth, who are being systematically abducted, tortured, and executed. The Convention Against Torture (CAT) (Article 16) and Ethiopia’s Criminal Code (Article 538) criminalize such acts, yet the Prosperity Party operates above the law, carrying out state-sponsored terror against the Oromo population.

Wider Atrocities Across Oromia: Systematic Murders and Mass Arrests

The horrors unfolding in Horroo Guduruu Wallagga are mirrored across Oromia, where the PP regime and its armed forces continue to slaughter innocent civilians. Reports indicate:

In Boosat district of East Shaggar, 18-year-old Burtukee Guddataa was executed by PP troops on March 13, 2025, after enduring repeated sexual violence in custody.

In Agarfa district of West Bale, the regime’s army destroyed an entire family’s home and arrested four family members on March 8, 2025.

In Heban Arsi district of West Arsi, two innocent youths, Guta Tubulu and Abarra Arsoo Buloo, were abducted from their homes and executed on March 14, 2025.

In Haru district of West Wallagga, PP forces opened fire on civilians in Dildila Gelel, Aallebaantaa village, killing Elias Tasfaayee and severely injuring a young woman, Biranuu Guuttata.

A Regime Drunk on Power, Bent on Ethnic Cleansing

Despite claiming to seek peace, the PP regime continues to deploy its army to every corner of Oromia, disregarding human rights and international laws. The Oromia region, once a thriving homeland, has been turned into a war zone where civilians are hunted, villages are razed, and youth are exterminated.

The Oromo people, deprived of their fundamental rights, are now left to either resist or perish. The international community must stop ignoring this genocide and take decisive action against Abiy Ahmed’s brutal regime before more innocent lives are lost.
