ONM-ABO, March 22, 2025 – Residents of Sibuu Sire district in the East Wallagga zone have reported to ONM that soldiers under the command of Abiy Ahmed are brutally torturing individuals under the pretext that their sons are members of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA). Those detained have been informed that they will remain in custody indefinitely unless their sons abandon the OLA and return home.
Last week, several families of Oromo freedom fighters were arrested in Siree town-01. Among those detained are:
- Badhasa Gamachu
- Gamachu Nagari
- Kafale Lenco
- Lenco Mosisa
Many others have also been falsely accused, imprisoned, and are believed to be enduring torture while in custody. These individuals are not affiliated with any political party and were solely engaged in their normal daily activities at the time of their arrest.
According to a report received by ONM, regime soldiers are subjecting detainees to severe torture, resulting in critical injuries. The ongoing crackdown continues to target innocent civilians, exacerbating tensions in the area.
ONM condemns these acts of violence and calls for the immediate release of all unlawfully detained individuals.
