On April 22, 2024, military units torched the residences of several civilians, causing widespread destruction and leaving many without basic necessities.

The affected individuals, identified as Mr. Dhinsaa Nugusee, Mr. Desalegne Tigree, Mr. Akkumaa Itichaa, and Mr. Gebeyehu Ganatii—who lost two homes—are among those whose properties were destroyed. Another victim, Mr. Abarraa Gebeyehu also suffered losses, along with numerous others whose identities have not been disclosed.

Continuing their operations on April 23, 2024, the forces intensified their campaign, engaging in the harassment of residents, detaining students, and the extrajudicial killing of peaceful civilians. The destruction of property further predisposes the population to poverty and hunger.

The political crisis engulfing the country has severely disrupted the daily lives of civilians, with the current instability further endangering the well-being of the Oromo populace.
