In an operation dubbed as “Shinniga Remembrance Operation” the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has taken decisive actions to thwart the 40-day military campaign plan of the Ethiopian regime forces

Accordingly, on May 21, 2024, the OLA neutralized 40 regime commandos and 8 militiamen in an action in Abuna Gindabarat District of West Shaggar while it wounded others. The fight also took place on May 24 in Central Zone, at Yaayyaa Haroo village of Dagam District, and in West Shaggar Metta Walqixxee District at Sadaffaa Boonayyaa village.
 
In the fight in Dagam District, 9 regime soldiers were killed, and three others were wounded. Many other regime soldiers were killed and wounded in Metta Walqixxee as well. Among the soldiers killed was a military commander. On the same day, the OLA attacked the enemy camp in Biite town of Abuna Gindabarat District.
 
Overall, it is confirmed that 27 army soldiers and 6 militiamen were killed, and 10 soldiers were wounded. Among the soldiers killed was Colonel Alamuu, the deputy commander of the army in Abuna Gindabarat district. In terms of weapons, 16 AKM guns with rounds of ammunition, army clothes were pillaged, and one patrol vehicle was burnt. The fighting in the various districts of the Central zone and towns near Finfinnee continued on May 27 and 28.
 
On May 29, 2024, the OLA attacked enemy forces in Jimatee township and Guutoo Giddaa villages in Saasiggaa district of East Wallaggaa. The OLA in the South Zone also acted against the regime’s forces in a coordinated battle and registered military gains. OLA forces entered the r military camp that have been used for a long time by the regime’s forces in Dukkallee village of Miyoo district of Borana region. The regime’s forces from 10 of the 13 districts of the district participated in the battle. In this operation, 41 regime’s soldiers were killed and 52 were wounded while others were scattered.
