The Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) extends its deepest condolences to the family, comrades, and the Oromo people on the passing of Bulcha Demeksa, a towering figure whose life was dedicated to the service and progress of our people.
As an economist, from his impactful work at the World Bank to establishing Awash International Bank, and as a politician, from founding the Oromo Federalist Democratic Movement (OFDM) to contributing to the leadership of the Oromo Federalist Congress (OFC) and the Ethiopian Federal Democratic Unity Forum (Medrek), he was a beacon of hope and a voice of reason in Ethiopia’s tumultuous political landscape.
Obbo Bulcha’s unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and the empowerment of marginalized communities will forever be remembered. His passing is a profound loss for the Oromo nation and all who yearn for peace, democracy, and freedom.
